Rege Turocy

Rege Turocy, Deacon and Assistant for Pastoral Ministry and PaulaI was born and raised in the South Hills of Pittsburgh (Baldwin). After graduating from Baldwin High School in 1965 I attended West Virginia University where I obtained my undergraduate degree in pre-physical therapy. The following year I obtained my degree in physical therapy from the University of Pittsburgh. While I was in Physical Therapy School, I was commissioned as a naval Officer during the Vietnam War. Upon graduation I embarked on a 21 year career as a naval officer as a physical therapist in the medical Service Corps. My duty stations included Great Lakes Naval Hospital, Yokosuka Naval Hospital in Yokosuka, Japan, Oakland Naval Hospital, graduate school at the University of Pittsburgh for two years (Master’s in Orthopedic Physical Therapy) and finally Bethesda Naval Hospital. In 1991 I retired at the full rank of Commander and returned to the Pittsbugh area (can’t keep a good ole “yinzer” away).

After leaving the Navy, I began a career in academe. I was an assistant professor of Physical Therapy at Duquesne University from 1991 – 2001 and Slippery Rock from 2001 – 2005. While at Duquesne University I obtained my Master’s and Doctorate degrees in Health Care Ethics.

While at Duquesne University I was blessed to have met my best friend and wife Paula who is presently the Program Chair of the Athletic Training Department. She is a gifted scholar and administrator who is very well respected in academe and her own profession. I have been blessed to have her in my life! Our favorite vacation haven is the beach especially Emerald Isle. We have raised three children; Kirsten (Virginia), Regis (Colorado), and Lauren (Philadelphia). We have three grandchildren; Cade, Schae and Mason who have enriched our lives tremendously.

Paula and I love to travel especially to Europe. Personally, I love to read (at times I will have three books going at once), play golf, Tai Chi, and work out regularly. I was ordained on August 20, 2011 and my primary responsibilities at Christ the Redeemer will be pastoral care and developing a healing ministry. I look forward to serving the Lord, the members of Christ the Redeemer, and the greater community at large.
